Chaos control using small-amplitude damping signals

چکیده
The aim of this Letter is to show that the injection of small damping signals can suffice to regulate the motion of a chaotic system around less complex attractors, such as equilibrium points and periodic orbits. The proposed feedback controller is composed by a high-pass filter and a saturator, so its implementation is quite simple and can be made on the basis of measured signals. The Duffing and the Chua systems are used to illustrate the performance of the controller. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Frequency–driven chaos in the electrical circuit of Duffing-Holmes oscillator and its control
Accurate detection of weak periodic signals within noise and possibility of secure messaging have made Duffing oscillator (DO) highly important in the field of communication. Investigation on the properties of DO is thus ardently sought for. An elegant approach to accomplish the same is to fabricate electronic circuit simulating DO non-linear equation and to study the effect of input signal amp...
متن کاملVibration of the Duffing Oscillator: Effect of Fractional Damping
We have applied the Melnikov criterion to examine a global homoclinic bifurcation and transition to chaos in a case of the Duffing system with nonlinear fractional damping and external excitation. Using perturbation methods we have found a critical forcing amplitude above which the system may behave chaotically. The results have been verified by numerical simulations using standard nonlinear to...
متن کاملAmplitude control approach for chaotic signals
A general approach based on the introduction of a control function for constructing amplitudecontrollable chaotic systems with quadratic nonlinearities is discussed in this paper. We consider three control regimes where the control functions are applied to different coefficients of the quadratic terms in a dynamical system. The approach is illustrated using the Lorenz system as a typical exampl...
متن کاملOptical ASK and FSK Modulation By Using Quantum Well Transistor Lasers
In this paper, transistor lasers (TLs) are used as an optical modulator for generation of ASK(Amplitude Shift Keying) and FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) optical signals. Our analysis is based on continuity equation, rate equations, and the theory of discontinuity of quasi-fermi level at the abrupt junction. Our simulation results indicate that, the specification of ASK and FSK optical signals, ar...
متن کاملSeismic Response Analysis of Different Buildings using Time- Invariant and Time- Variant Damping Coefficients
Seismic signals are characterized by strong excitations, short durations, non-linearity and non-stationarity having both the amplitude and frequency content vary as a function of the recorded time. Various classical detection and estimation techniques, like the time-frequency representations and the Fourier-based techniques have been used to analyze such signals, but these techniques have varie...
